MINISTRY SPOTLIGHT: Faith Comes by Hearing

Faith Comes by Hearing began in 1972, then known as “Hosanna,” for audio Bible production and engagement for those needing to hear the Bible in every translated language.
Faith Comes by Hearing records the Bible in audio format to indigenous languages and also starting audio Bible listening groups around the world. The ministry works in cooperation with Bible societies, churches, and mission groups worldwide.
For the year of 2021, 111 audio recordings were completed, with 102 in new languages, bringing the total number of languages with complete audio New Testaments to 1,457 languages spoken in 190 countries. The ministry also had 84 recordings in final mastering and editing, and 63 recordings in-process.
In 2021 the ministry worked with 42 different recording organizations in 28 countries. In addition, in 2021, about 44,917 groups received “Proclaimer” units. The Proclaimer is a dedicated audio player containing a dramatized recording of the New Testament in a translated indigenous language. It has no moving parts to the playback mechanism making it very durable, and plays for hours at a time. And it can be run on rechargeable batteries, solar power, hand-crank, or AC adapter.

Faith Comes by Hearing is also utilizing Global Bible Network-enabled devices which allow users to download digital Bible content to a smart phone and then pass that content to other smartphones without the need for the internet or cellular connection. Also during 2021, the ministry sent about 80,000 “Biblesticks” to military personnel, which adds to a total of about 1,500,000 Military Biblesticks sent out in the last ten years. The ministry is also now combining audio recordings to video to create visual Scripture they call Faith Comes By Hearing Gospel Films. For 2021 they completed about 315 Gospel Films.
The aim of Faith Comes by Hearing is to partner with like-minded ministries to see the Bible available in the language and format each person can best understand, through the production of audio Bible recordings.
