ECFA Changes.  The following organizations have had membership status changes in the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability.  ADDITIONS: None  REMOVALS:  Calvary Salt Lake (Salt Lake City, Utah), Halftime Institute (Irving, Tex.), Church of the Rock (Castle Rock, Colo.), Healing Haiti (Champlin, Minn.), Grace Ministries International (Marietta, Ga.), Liberty Godparent Foundation (Lynchburg, Va.), Ozark Teen Challenge (Branson West, Mo.)

On the Podcast:  Each week, MinistryWatch brings you news about Christian ministries, as well as the latest in charity and philanthropy, news that we examine from a Christian worldview perspective.  On today’s program, Josh Duggar’s child pornography trial begins – and ends with a conviction.  But beyond the salacious headlines, what can we learn?  And one of Canada’s best-known evangelical pastors has been accused of sexual misconduct.  We begin today with news from Haiti.  You can hear the podcast on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, and other podcast apps, or you can simply click here.

MinistryWatch EXTRA Episode:  FAQ About MinistryWatch.  These mid-week “Extra” episodes are a chance for us to go deep with a particular topic, and today…well…that topic is MinistryWatch.  Over the past two years, since the re-boot of MinistryWatch, I have gotten a lot of questions about what we do, how we do it, and why we do it.  The purpose of today’s podcast is to answer some of those questions.  And I’ve invited into the program Christina Darnell, the Managing Editor of MinistryWatch.  Listen here.

MinistryWatch Database Changes.  MinistryWatch now has more than 1,000 ministries in its database. These ministries represent more than $35-billion in total revenue, most of that donor revenue from evangelicals. The following ministries have their profiles updated with the most recent year’s financial data. The Financial Efficiency rating of each ministry is in parenthesis. If this rating represents a change from the previous year, that change is noted: Free the Oppressed dba Free Burma Rangers (Down 5 to 4 Stars, Transparency Grade: A), Alliance for Children Everywhere (Down 2 to 1 Star, Transparency Grade: A), CITA, Inc.  (Down 2 to 1 Star, Transparency Grade: D), Cookson Hills Christian School (Down 3 to 2 Stars, Transparency Grade: A), Dream Center Foundation (Up 4 to 5 Stars, Transparency Grade: D), E3 Partners Ministry (Down 4 to 3 Stars, Transparency Grade: A), Mel Trotter Ministries (Down 3 to 2 Stars, Transparency Grade: A), New Horizons Ministries (Down 3 to 2 Stars, Transparency Grade: A), Sunrise Mission (Up 3 to 4 Stars, Transparency Grade: D), TeenPact Leadership School (5 Stars, Transparency Grade: From D to C), The Episcopal Academy (Up 2 to 3 Stars, Transparency Grade: D), Watoto Child Care Ministries (Up 4 to 5 Stars, Transparency Grade: A). The following ministry has been added to the MinistryWatch database with the most recent year’s financial data: The Christian Academy (3 Stars, Transparency Grade: A), Wichita Falls Faith Mission (3 Stars, Transparency Grade: A), World Orphans (4 Stars, Transparency Grade: A)

On This Date. The excellent podcast “The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill” has become a phenomenon this year, but MinistryWatch was covering this story eight years ago.  Read our story from this date (Dec. 16) in 2013 here.
