ECFA Changes

The following organizations have had membership status changes in the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability.  ADDITIONS:  NONE  REMOVALS:  Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (Detroit, Mich.), The Christian Academy (Brookhaven, Penn.), Missions to Military (Norfolk, Va.)

On This Date at MinistryWatch

FOUR YEARS AGO:  The Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) terminated Harvest Bible Chapel’s membership in its organization for “significant violations” of ECFA standards. Yet three former Harvest elders say they warned ECFA President Dan Busby of serious financial and governance issues at the church six years earlier. But they say instead of investigating Harvest, Busby dismissed their concerns, and continued to allow Harvest to use the ECFA seal to tout its alleged financial integrity.  Read more here.

THREE YEARS AGO:  LifeWay Christian Resources’ board of trustees authorized a recommendation for the organization’s executive team to pursue viable options for the disposition of Ridgecrest Conference Center and Summer Camps including, but not limited to, transfer or sale to SBC entities, state conventions or other external parties.  Read more here.

TWO YEARS AGO:  Former reality star Josh Duggar was arrested by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and is being held without bond in an Arkansas jail on unspecified charges.  Read more here.

ONE YEAR AGO:  A Michigan church has paid $8.3 million for a Tampa-area estate in Florida that formerly belonged to Tampa Bay Buccaneers co-owner Darcie Glazer Kassewitz and her husband, according to a deed filed in Hillsborough County.  The Kingdom of God Global Church of Taylor (Mich.) secured a $4.9 million mortgage to purchase the 28,893-square-foot main house and a 2,620-square-foot guest house in Avila, the Tampa Bay Business Journal reported. The church’s address is listed on the mortgage as a Chesterfield, Missouri, residence that was sold in March, per TBBJ. Kingdom of God, based in the Detroit suburb of Taylor, Michigan, is led by pastor David E. Taylor, who is also the head of Joshua Media Ministries International (JMMI),

On the Podcast: John Ankerberg Sues Whistleblower, Hillsong’s Brian Houston Pleads Guilty, and Hope For The King’s College

On today’s program, popular Christian apologist John Ankerberg has been under scrutiny after a former fundraiser for the organization filed a whistleblower complaint and shared it with both the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability, and with MinistryWatch. Now, Ankerberg has sued the whistleblower.  We’ll have details.

And Hillsong’s Brian Houston has pled guilty to DUI charges following a 2022 incident in California.

Later in the program we’ll have the latest from The King’s College.  This Christian liberal arts college in New York City has been on the verge of closure, but dramatic developments last week are giving supporters of the school a glimmer of hope.

We begin today with televangelist Perry Stone.  A grand jury in Tennessee has ruled that an FBI investigation into sexual misconduct claims has not produced enough evidence to charge him with crimes.
