The attackers spray painted “Jane’s Revenge,” “Liars,” “Fake Clinic,” and “Abort God” on the outside of the pregnancy center.

“This vile attack is part of a nationwide movement to intimidate, threaten, and terrorize pregnancy centers,” HerChoice Executive Director Rochelle Sikora said in a statement.

The center has existed in Bowling Green since 1985 and claims to have served over 10,000 women in its nearly 40-year history. It offers pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, testing for sexually transmitted infections, along with birth and parenting classes. All of its services are free of charge to its clients.

Despite the attack, HerChoice plans to continue offering its services. “Our love for women in the community will not wane in the face of these threats. In fact, our resolve to serve is only strengthened,” Sikora emphasized.

There are about 100 pro-life pregnancy centers across Ohio providing about $15 million worth of services to families in need.

The most recent attack is one of an estimated 78 attacks against pro-life pregnancy centers that have taken place since the U.S. Supreme Court returned the issue of abortion to the states in its Dobbs decision in June 2022.

Earlier this month, Heartbeat of Miami, which has several pro-life clinics in south Florida, filed suit against Jane’s Revenge and some of its members for violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act. It also is suing for trespassing, civil conspiracy, and violation of the Florida law against racketeering.

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody has also sued Jane’s Revenge and two of its members for pregnancy center attacks in Florida.

Those members, Caleb Freestone and Amber Smith-Stewart, were indicted by a Florida federal grand jury in January for “engag[ing] in a conspiracy to prevent employees of reproductive health services facilities from providing those services.”

In March, Hridindu Sankar Roychowdhury was arrested in Boston for a firebombing attack of the pro-life Wisconsin Family Action’s office in Madison last May.

CompassCare in New York has embarked on its own investigation into pregnancy center violence with the help of the Thomas More Society. It was firebombed in June 2022, but claims to have received little to no help from local, state, or federal law enforcement in apprehending the perpetrators of the violence.
