Ministry Spotlight: ChinaAid Association
International non-profit continues to earn outstanding scores
Shortly after entering the MinistryWatch database in 2024, ChinaAid rose from a 4-star financial efficiency rating to 5 stars. The ministry continues to earn high financial scores since filing its most recent Form 990.’

ChinaAid, an international non-profit Christian human rights organization, advocates for persecuted Christians in China. Believing that “religious freedom is the first freedom,” ChinaAid accomplishes its goals via their 3 E’s: “exposing the abuses, encouraging the abused, and equipping leaders of persecuted groups.”
ChinaAid uses donated funds in a variety of ways, such as “emergency aid for detained families, legal support for imprisoned pastors, advocacy to free the vulnerable, and global exposure to demand justice.”
In support of its mission, ChinaAid publishes numerous updates and stories through books, media, reports, and news articles. A persecution report is posted annually as part of its mission “to uncover and reveal the truth about religious persecution in China.”
In a recent newsletter, ChinaAid covered the story of 18 detained pastors and co-workers from Beijing Zion Church, calling for prayers and support for the persecuted believers and their families.
ChinaAid’s financial efficiency remains high, particularly in the Fund Acquisition category. The Fund Acquisition efficiency reflects how an organization raises funds. The less money an organization spends on fundraising as a percentage of its total revenue, the higher the rating.
The ministry’s Transparency Grade is docked from an A to a C due to lack of public audited financial statements. The ECFA only requires ministries with membership to complete audited financials—but those statements have to be posted on their websites to get credit for the MinistryWatch requirement.
ChinaAid’s Donor Confidence Score has risen from a high 95 in 2024 to an even higher 98, maintaining a “Give With Confidence” recommendation to donors.
ChinaAid Association has a C Transparency Grade—it files a public Form 990 and is a member of the ECFA, but does not post audited financial statements to its website.
