Portland Youth For Christ, after seeing a need for clean clothes, created Aspen + Gray, a boutique-style clothing closet, to provide on-trend clothes, hygiene products, and makeup to teenage girls for free. Over spring break, the team handed out its 150th bag of clothing after being in operation for just over a year. Youth For Christ USA has three stars and an “A” transparency grade in the MinistryWatch database, and a donor confidence score of 90.
Two women, who call themselves the “Bag Ladies,” from Fort Recovery Church of the Nazarene in Northern Ohio are in the midst of a 1,000-bag project—sewing bags from recycled fabrics that will pair with Bibles sent to Africa through the Christian Literature for Africa Association. Other bag projects have included orders for a school in Haiti and totes for victims of human trafficking in Africa.
Crisis-trained chaplains from the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team deployed to Uvalde, Texas, to provide spiritual and emotional support to those affected by the May 24 shooting at an elementary school that left 19 children and two teachers dead. Billy Graham Evangelistic Association has two stars and a “C” transparency grade in the MinistryWatch database, and a donor confidence score of 40.
The Philadelphia Dream Center recently negotiated the purchase of a 50,000-square-foot complex to house its expanded ministry operations. The new buildings will host an afterschool with art programs, church services, Bible studies, a home for pregnant women who need housing, drug rehabilitation center for men, and living quarters for missionaries. The Philly Dream Center also operates a food truck feeding program.
