ONE YEAR AGO: On May 30, 2023, MinistryWatch reported that a former campus minister for Chi Alpha at Baylor University was arrested on charges of continuous sexual abuse of a young child. He was then released after posting a $50,000 bond. Since then, MinistryWatch has reported on various developments in the Chi Alpha sexual abuse scandal. Read more here.
TWO YEARS AGO: On June 2, 2022, MinistryWatch reported that pro-life activist Jennifer Christie came under scrutiny for claims she and her ministry have made about an unverified sexual assault. Read more here.
FOUR YEARS AGO: On June 1, 2020, MinistryWatch reported that a woman Ravi Zacharias sued in 2017 was asking for release from a non-disclosure agreement she signed as part of a settlement of that lawsuit. Lori Anne Thompson claimed Ravi Zacharias solicited nude photos of her after they met in 2014. Zacharias denied the claims and filed a lawsuit saying Thompson and her husband were attempting to extort funds from him. The lawsuit was eventually settled, and Thompson signed an NDA. NINE YEARS AGO: On June 15, 2015, MinistryWatch reported that one of the three Executive Elders at the recently dissolved Mars Hill Church publicly apologized for his behavior there. In a series of blog posts published over the span of a few weeks, Sutton Turner took responsibility for his role in a book-buying scandal, as well as in helping perpetuate a culture of fear and intimidation at the Seattle megachurch that dissolved earlier that year.
