Summary:  Mercy Ships began in 1978 as a ship based international healthcare organization.  Mercy Ships deploys hospital ships to the poorest of the world that do not have the ability to have surgery and medical care. Through its hospital ships and related healthcare programs, the organization provides surgical interventions, training and healthcare services without regard to ethnicity, gender, political affiliations, or religious preference. Mercy Ships aims to follow the model of Jesus, bringing hope and healing to the forgotten poor.
