K-Love Radio Owner Announces Leadership Change

On March 21, Educational Media Foundation (EMF) announced that Bill Reeves will no longer be the ministry’s CEO. EMF owns and operates the two largest Christian radio networks, K-Love and Air1.

Todd Woods, previously the chief legal officer, has been tapped to replace Reeves.

About Reeves’ departure, board chair Donna Ecton said, “The Board of Directors and the Ministry Leadership Team would like to thank Bill for his work and contributions to EMF’s mission. We appreciate his years of service to the Christian media industry. We wish him well in his future endeavors.”

EMF did not reply to multiple inquiries by MinistryWatch about the reasons and circumstances around Reeves departure.

EMF hired Reeves as CEO in 2019. At the time, EMF highlighted Reeves’ experience and said it “complements radio as we [EMF] take our first step toward becoming a more diversified media ministry.”

When he was hired, Reeves was optimistic about his new role. “I’m looking forward to the challenge of this expanded role with EMF,” he said. “K-LOVE and Air1 have tremendous impact on our culture, and I look forward to continuing to grow that impact and reach both through the radio networks and through new media in the future.”

During his time as CEO, EMF broke ground on a new 17,000-square-foot headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee. It had previously been headquartered in Rocklin, California.

In January—just two months preceding his departure—Reeves was named RadioInk’s executive of the year.

“This is a well-deserved honor for Bill, who has made a tremendous impact on the Christian radio industry,” said NRB President & CEO Troy A. Miller. “We are proud to see an NRB member receive industry recognition for leadership and communications excellence.”

Woods, Reeves’ replacement, has served in several capacities at EMF. Before joining EMF in 2022 as the chief legal officer, Woods had worked in executive capacities at Nissan and Lowe’s.

Founded in 1980 by Bob Anthony, EMF started with one station in Santa Rosa, California. It now owns and operates over 1,000 stations across the country and has 500 employees.

EMF has two stars and an “A” transparency grade in the MinistryWatch database, and a donor confidence score of 92.
In 2020, the ministry had revenue over $270 million. The salary for EMF’s chief executive ranks 29th on the list of “100 Highly Paid Ministry Executives.”
