Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Kentucky, recently fell out of the top 50 in the Colleges and Universities sector after its revenue dropped by about $26 million in 2025.

The private, comprehensive Christian institution, located in south-central Kentucky, describes itself as “committed to academic excellence, offering undergraduate, graduate, and online programs that prepare students for meaningful careers and Christian servant leadership in a supportive community.”
Campbellsville University enrolls more than 4,500 students representing 93 Kentucky counties, 27 states and 50 foreign countries, and counts more than 13,000 alumni. The university is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation.
Both Campbellsville’s savings rate and its reserve accumulation rate fell into deficit from 2024 to 2025. The savings rate dropped from 4% to -11%, and cash assets fell from $12,671,630 to $4,322,068. Total assets had grown steadily over the past five years but slipped to just under $200 million in 2025 — nearly the same level as in 2021.
According to the university’s Form 990, it received $5,023,956 in government grants in 2025.
