ONE YEAR AGO: On April 2, 2024, MinistryWatch reported about Orlando Coleman, a Houston man claiming to be a bishop who was sentenced to three years for bigamy. Prosecutors believe he had been married to at least 10 different women over the past 20 years. Read more here.
TWO YEARS AGO: On April 4, 2023, MinistryWatch reported that Joe Rigney, Bethlehem Seminary president with ties to influential author John Piper and Idaho pastor Doug Wilson, resigned due to what the school’s board called a “divergence of vision.” Brian Tabb became president in 2024. THREE YEARS AGO: On April 7, 2022, MinistryWatch reported that retired African Methodist Episcopal Church pastors had filed at least three federal class-action lawsuits alleging the church mishandled tens of millions of dollars in pension funds.
