Churches fined for sheltering homeless during cold, Johnny Hunt, ACNA, Nyack College, Vision Church adds staff psychic

ONE YEAR AGO: On Jan. 19, 2024, MinistryWatch reported that churches were being fined for providing shelter to homeless persons during bitterly cold weather. One of the churches, Dad’s Place, is continuing its court battle with the City of Bryan, Ohio. Read more here.

TWO YEARS AGO: On Jan. 18, 2023, MinistryWatch reported that former Southern Baptist Convention President Johnny Hunt returned to the pulpit on Jan. 15, eight months after allegations became public that he had sexually assaulted another pastor’s wife. Read more here.

THREE YEARS AGO: On Jan. 20, 2022, MinistryWatch reported that three members of the group overseeing the investigation into sexual abuse allegations in the Anglican Church in North America’s Upper Midwest Diocese resigned a few days earlier, saying the team “downplayed or ignored” abuse survivors’ needs. Read more here.
