MINISTRY SPOTLIGHT: Christian Medical & Dental Associations
Christian Medical & Dental Associations (CMDA) began in 1931 to be an advocacy, educational and encouraging voice to Christian healthcare professionals.
CMDA has more than 40 sub-ministries that support its mission. CMDA works with students on medical and dental campuses, organizes and leads international medical and dental teams, addresses policies on healthcare issues, develops and distributes educational and inspirational resources, holds conferences on the integration of faith and practice, marriage and family, ethics, bioethical decisions, and other topics, and provides medical education.
And it does this while sharing the Gospel.
In 2021, CMDA deployed 18 short-term overseas mission trips that included 284 medical, dental and surgical individuals that cared for 15,023 patients. This included evangelistic outreach to demonstrate the love and compassion of Christ in a material way.
CMDA’s campus outreach for 2021 ministered on 324 healthcare campuses in 94 cities, with more than 4,336 students participating in things like Bible studies, prayer breakfasts, sharing groups, conferences and service projects.
CMDA also provides Category 1 Continuing Medical Education (CME) for physicians as well as Continuing Dental Education (CDE) for dentists. Those conferences include workshops on evangelism, marriage, bioethical issues, women in healthcare, family and more.
The aim of Christian Medical & Dental Associations is to advocate for ethical issues from a Biblical perspective, plus motivate and educate Christian healthcare professionals to glorify God.
