MINISTRY SPOTLIGHT — Charity:Water

Avatar photo

Charity:Water (also known as Charity Global) began in 2006 to help impoverished people groups around the world get safe, clean water and basic sanitation. The ministry employs about 100 people, but the majority of donations are sent to local partner organizations who do the actual work.

The ministry oversees the drilling or digging of wells, along with innovative programs and technologies such as rainwater catchments, BioSand filters, and spring protections. It showcases completed water projects with GPS coordinates, photos, and information about the communities served.

Of the dozens of places where Charity:Water oversaw projects in 2021, the top three locations (ranked by number of projects and people served) were:

  1. Uganda: 2,024 water projects serving 315,018 people
  2. Rwanda: 1,064 water projects serving 223,444 people
  3. Madagascar: 3,175 projects serving 81,792 people

Since 2006, Charity:Water has funded close to 100,000 water projects in about 30 countries.
