HopeKids, Mission Aviation Fellowship, FCA, CEF, and ‘Love Your Neighbor’

The North Texas chapter of HopeKids celebrated 10 years this spring. The chapter launched in 2013 with a handful of families and now serves over 1,000 families with over 500 events each year. HopeKids, which as of 2021 had six chapters nationwide, provides events, activities and community to families with children facing a life-threatening medical condition. HopeKids has four stars and an “A” transparency grade in the MinistryWatch database, and a donor confidence score of 96.

After being detained in Mozambique for several months, Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) pilot Ryan Koher was released in March. Instead of returning home to the U.S., Koher and his wife are working to stay in Mozambique and continue providing missionary flights in the area. MAF has one star and a “C” transparency grade in the MinistryWatch database, and a donor confidence score of 86.

Almost 1,300 people celebrated the graduation of 252 student athletes from a three-month discipleship program at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) “Field of Faith” event, held at the Buffalo Bills’ NFL stadium on June 13. This was the first time a Field of Faith event had been held at an NFL stadium and featured Damar Hamlin, the Bills defensive player who went into cardiac arrest during a game in January. FCA has four stars and an “A” transparency grade in the MinistryWatch database, and a donor confidence score of 90.

Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) is sending teams into refugee camps in South Sudan, where the influx of Sudanese refugees escaping the fighting in Khartoum is resulting in the eruption of violence and hostility among various tribes. CEF has been sharing the gospel and providing help in South Sudan since 2016. CEF has one star and an “A” transparency grade in the MinistryWatch database, and a donor confidence score of 86.

More than 45 teams from across 17 countries joined the Church of the Nazarene’s “Love Your Neighbor” initiative, hosting Vacation Bible Schools, offering hairstyling services and manicures, completing construction and cleaning projects, showing the JESUS film, and distributing food and clothing. More than 1,500 people participated from June 9-14.
