A Youth For Christ (YFC) volunteer from the Williston Basic chapter in North Dakota has been leading quilting classes since 2020. Rosemary (no last name given) has been teaching local middle and high school students to sew and quilt, and together they have created and donated quilts and stockings to young people in the Youth Correctional Center in Mandan, N.D., the Family Crisis Center, to graduating seniors, and to their local police department for officers to give to kids who they encounter in emergency situations.

SAT-7 ACADEMY is partnering with Heart For Lebanon to bring primary education to Syrian refugee students. Heart For Lebanon will implement SAT-7’s 4-year program My School to kindergarten through third grade students three days a week at its two centers in Bekaa Valley and in Southern Lebanon. The main subjects will be Arabic, English, and math.

Rogers First Church of the Nazarene in Arkansas hosts once-a-week martial arts classes for its local community. Church members Joanne and David Johnson lead the classes, one for children and the other for adults. The church rents its facility to the Johnsons free of charge, allowing the couple to offer classes cheaper than most other dojos. The couple leads students in an optional prayer and devotional time in between classes.

Students across the country raised more than $10.3 million for the Assemblies of God’s Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge in 2021, smashing the previous 2019 record by more than $1 million. Kids from a Texas church sold food and crafts from around the world to raise donations, while a church in South Dakota held a chili cook-off. Another in North Dakota hit baseballs, and a church in Alabama held a kids triathlon.

MINISTRY LEADERSHIP CHANGES

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes announced on Feb. 7 that “longtime FCA friend” Clint Herring is the new Board of Trustees Chair. Prior to the announcement, Herring served on the main Board of Trustees for a year and the FCA Mississippi State Board seven years before that.
