The Church of the Nazarene congregation in Manteno, Illinois, began looking for ways to serve the elderly community in its neighborhood—four senior living homes are visible from the church grounds—and within the past year has launched a robust ministry of activities and relationships. Free bunco game nights, comedy shows, and community meals are aimed at building connections and meeting needs of the elderly, who often struggle with isolation and loneliness. Manteno Church says its ministry to those outside the church has also revitalized the elderly within its own congregation.
For the past decade, Convoy of Hope has partnered with local churches to host Hope Day outreaches in their communities. Soon after they began, the Hope Day Network was born, uniting churches in various communities across the U.S. to host Hope Day outreaches of their own, focused on engagement and service that shares the hope of Christ. Convoy of Hope has 4 stars and an “A” transparency grade in the MinistryWatch database, and a donor confidence score of 74.
