Daniel and Tammie Floyd will take the reins after the ousting of founding pastor Robert Morris.

Gateway Church, a megachurch in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan region, has announced it has chosen new senior pastors to lead the congregation.

The appointment comes after the resignation of founding pastor Robert Morris, who resigned last summer after Cindy Clemishire came forward with allegations that he had sexually abused her in the late 1980s when she was 12 years old.
Morris has since been indicted by a grand jury in Oklahoma. Morris and Gateway are also currently engaged in a legal battle over retirement benefits.
The congregation was informed on Sunday, May 25 that the new pastors are Daniel and Tammie Floyd, according to reporting by Fox 4 News. They founded Lifepoint Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia, 20 years ago, and it has grown to include five campuses across the state.
While the Floyds were not in attendance at Gateway on Sunday, they recorded a video message saying they are “incredibly excited to be a part of the Gateway family.”
The Floyds said family is their “greatest ministry” with four children ranging in age from 18 to 6 years old.
“We believe the local church, when it’s mobilized, really is the hope of the world,” Daniel Floyd said.
The Floyds said they plan to be at Gateway this coming weekend — May 31 and June 1.
“With full confidence, we can say that God has called us here,” said Daniel Floyd. “Twenty years ago, we had the privilege of planting Lifepoint Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and it’s been the honor of our lives to shepherd that community. So when we say this next season is a calling, we don’t take that lightly, and we mean it with all of our hearts.”
Elder Tra Wilbanks told the congregation the church had engaged in a lengthy process to find a new senior pastor.

“Throughout the process, we looked at a wide range of candidates and consulted with many other pastors in the body of Christ across the United States. And as I briefed you many weeks ago, we were seeking a senior pastor who could cast fresh vision for our church, who could feed the church spiritually, and who could steadily lead our church organization,” Wilbanks explained, according to the Christian Post.
“We searched for a senior pastor who is an experienced preacher for our weekend services. And perhaps even more importantly we sought a senior pastor who will passionately work Monday through Friday with our church staff and volunteers to bring the word of God and the love of God to those in need.”
Daniel Floyd has a doctorate in ministry from Southeastern University and two master’s degrees from Liberty Theological Seminary. His wife, Tammie, has a bachelor’s in education from Liberty University.
