Members of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) publicly commit to live up to the Seven Standards of Responsible Stewardship.”

MinistryWatch believes membership in the ECFA is a “best practice” for Christian ministries, especially organizations with more than $1 million in annual revenue. For that reason, ECFA membership impacts both a ministry’s Transparency Grade and its Donor Confidence Score.

Christian Union’s Transparency Grade fell from a C to a D, and its DCS dropped from a 74 to a 54, landing the ministry into the “Exercise Caution” category.

MinistryWatch made multiple attempts to contact Christian Union about its reason for leaving the ECFA. It did not respond.

Through the Seven Keys of Kingdom Advancement, Christian Union promotes leadership growth in universities and programs across the country, seeking “a spiritually vibrant nation marked by Christian values permeating every corner of society.”

Christian Union aims to see transformational Christian values spread across the U.S. through “prayer, effort, and financial resources” as they train future leaders for Christ.

Christian Union has a D Transparency Grade—it files a public Form 990, but does not post audited financial statements or hold membership with the ECFA.
