Labor Day, observed this year on Sept. 7, recognizes the contributions American workers have made to the country’s strength and prosperity. For Christians, work also raises another question: What does following Christ look like during the hours spent managing employees, meeting deadlines, making decisions or working alongside people who may not share their faith?
For a growing network of Christian business leaders, workplace ministries and corporate chaplains, faith at work means more than evangelism on the job. It can shape leadership, stewardship, company culture, relationships, employee care and the way Christians approach difficult decisions.
This week’s Ministries Making a Difference looks at four Christian ministries helping business leaders and employees integrate faith and work through discipleship, biblical leadership, mentoring and workplace chaplaincy.

Fellowship of Companies for Christ
David Harper Jr., CEO of Legacy Advisory Partners, had heard about Fellowship of Companies for Christ (FCCI) for years. When he finally attended an FCCI gathering, he found business owners openly sharing how they had trusted God through difficult decisions, seen prayers answered, and learned to hold their companies and resources more loosely. Harper said he left asking how he could lean more fully on God and become a better steward of the opportunities entrusted to him. What stood out, he said, was the combination of an entrepreneurial mindset — “We can do this” — with a desire to seek God’s kingdom first.
FCCI is a Christian business leadership ministry that equips business owners and executives to apply biblical principles to company leadership and their personal lives. Business Leadership Groups and other resources address decisions involving employees, company culture, planning, stewardship, and the purpose of business itself. Its upcoming 2026 gathering includes sessions on employee care amid AI disruption and building workplace culture around biblical convictions. Christian Business Men’s Connection
On July 10, business and professional men gathered at Uwharrie Bank in Charlotte, North Carolina, for a different kind of workplace training with the Christian Business Men’s Connection (CBMC): learning how to disciple other men. As part of CBMC’s emphasis on one-on-one discipleship, Operation Timothy focuses on the relationship as a “Paul” investing in a “Timothy,” with the two studying Scripture and applying it to life, work, family and leadership.
CBMC is a marketplace ministry focused on evangelism, mentoring and one-on-one discipleship among Christian business and professional men. Today its programs include small groups, mentoring, young-professional networks, executive forums and resources intended to help men integrate faith with work rather than treating the two as separate parts of life. Its October national conference is built around the theme “Where Men, Work & the Mission of God Meet.”

Corporate Chaplains of America
In the early 1990s, Mark and Linda Cress were business owners in Richmond, Virginia, when they became concerned about how to care for their employees biblically. The couple eventually sold their business interests and moved to North Carolina, where Mark attended seminary. Three years later, they launched Corporate Chaplains of America (CCA), with Mark serving as its first chaplain and Linda handling administration and accounting.
CCA is a Christian workplace chaplaincy ministry that provides voluntary employee care at nearly 3,000 company locations. It places chaplains in workplaces for weekly, voluntary conversations with employees and provides 24-hour access during personal crises. Its ministry is permission-based: chaplains build relationships first and share their Christian faith when employees permit those conversations.

Marketplace Chaplains
Lynn Presson began serving with Marketplace Chaplains in 2011 alongside her husband. Together they cared for thousands of employees across Texas. After his death, Presson continued the work as a full-time chaplain coach. Marketplace Chaplains provides Christian workplace chaplains and confidential employee care to companies across the country. It assigns teams to company locations for regular workplace visits and provides employees and their families confidential access to chaplains by phone, text, video or an app.
The ministry trains more than 2,000 chaplains through an academy with more than 200 courses. Chaplains may meet employees dealing with grief, financial strain, marriage problems, illness, workplace conflict, or other pressures that do not disappear when a shift begins. A recent Marketplace Chaplains report on employee well-being argues that personal crises often surface at work even when companies try to address performance problems only through policies or technology.
