Acts 29 VP and Vintage Church Pastor Admits to ‘Inappropriate Relationship’
Tyler Jones dismissed by Acts 29 and Vintage Church.
A church founder and leader of Acts 29 Network has been removed from his positions of ministry leadership after confessing to an “inappropriate relationship with a woman.”
After Tyler Jones, vice president for Acts 29 and founder of Vintage Church, admitted to the relationship, Vintage Church elders met on Feb. 18 and voted to remove Jones from his role, effective immediately. Acts 29 then dismissed him from his VP position.

Jones planted Vintage Church in Raleigh, N.C., 2002 and has served in a “myriad of leadership roles with Acts29 since 2003,” according to an archived Acts 29 bio. It also says he is married with three kids. Vintage Church now has four campuses in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina.
Acts 29 told The Roys Report that the “behavior occurred prior to his employment” with the organization. But according to reporting from Protestia, the “affair lasted seven years and took place between 2012 to 2019.”
MinistryWatch asked Acts 29 about the timeline of leadership involvement, employment and the inappropriate relationship. Acts 29 responded in an email: “Like many pastors in our network, Tyler volunteered in many capacities after his church joined Acts 29 in the early 2000s, but he began employment in 2022.”
MinistryWatch asked Acts 29 and Vintage Church about the nature of the relationship. Acts 29 responded saying that questions about the nature of the relationship should be directed to Vintage Church because they do not plan to add to information the church chooses to make public. Vintage Church has not responded to questions sent by email.
The Acts 29 website says, “Like you, we want people from every tribe, tongue, and nation to know and worship him. This is why we plant churches worldwide.” The Vintage Church website says, “We’re a church of doubters, seekers, and followers striving to know, live and advance the gospel.”
According to the archived Acts 29 bio, Jones “is driven by his passion for planting and growing churches to advance the gospel across the US and the world.”
The Acts 29 church planting organization has faced troubles in recent years. MinistryWatch has reported on churches leaving the network and the removal of its CEO in 2020.
EDITOR’S NOTE: This article has been updated to reflect that Jones admitted to the relationship after being confronted as opposed to confessing of his own accord.
