Pacific Justice Institute Offers Support to Churches Facing ‘Unlawful Attacks’
And other ministries making a difference.
At MinistryWatch, our mission is to help Christians become more faithful, generous, and effective stewards of the resources God has entrusted to them. It’s why we advocate for the transparency, accountability and efficiency of Christian ministries.

Because of that, we cover a lot of stories we’d rather not have to—stories of waste, fraud, and abuse. We do it unapologetically, because aside from exposing evil, we also believe these stories offer lessons and examples for ministries and donors to learn from.
But we also seek to amplify stories of ministries doing excellent work. That’s what this column is for—to spotlight ministries making a difference in their own communities and around the world. We pray it is a blessing to see the many creative ways God’s people are working for His glory and for their neighbors’ good.
With that, here’s this week’s roundup of ministries making a difference:

PJI President Brad Dacus
After protestors disrupted a Sunday morning worship service at Cities Church in Minneapolis last week to protest one of its pastors’ roles in ICE, Pacific Justice Institute took to social media on Friday to show support. PJI President Brad Dacus said his group is providing “free guidance to help churches protect their congregations” from “unlawful attacks.” He encouraged anyone impacted by the church protest to contact PJI, saying there may be criminal and civil liabilities to consider. He also encouraged Christians to encourage the DOJ to use the FACE Act, which was intended to protect churches from acts of intimidation and threats. PJI has 3 Stars and an A Transparency Grade in the MinistryWatch database, and a Donor Confidence Score of 97.

Legacy Church in downtown Memphis, Tennessee, has become known around town for its outreach ministry, Legacy Cares. Established in 2018 to respond to local needs, one of the group’s larger efforts came in response to a fire that blazed in a nearby apartment complex. Within one week, Legacy Church had pulled in other churches and organized the collection of furniture, clothing, and food for 15 families who had lost everything in the fire. Recently, Legacy Cares was asked by the mayor’s office to find and lead a collaboration of organizations to help rescue men, women, and children from dangerous situations resulting from drugs and other criminal activity.

A South African ministry hosted an evangelistic Christmas service to share and celebrate the good news of Christ’s birth with 83 people. The Parsonsvlei Child Development Centre (CDC) in the suburbs of Gqeberha, South Africa shared McDonald’s meals, gave out food baskets, and even celebrated the children’s birthdays who frequent the CDC with a large cake. The CDC began in 2019, but in June 2025, it was officially adopted as a ministry of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries.

In 2014, Back2Back Ministries—an international orphan care ministry—led a single workshop to help adults understand how trauma has impacted many of the children they work with. That one workshop turned into Trauma Free World that is now equipping “caregivers, educators, coaches, and leaders around the world with the tools to bring healing instead of harm.” A group of Ukrainian coaches and athletes recently went through the virtual training workshop—they said it helped them work through their own trauma and now inspired them to help people who have gone through similar struggles. In the MinistryWatch database, Back2Back has 4 stars, a C Transparency Grade, and a Donor Confidence Score of 92.
