Ousted New Life Pastor Brady Boyd Helps Plant New Church

The Village Church in Colorado Springs launches Aug. 23, more than a year after Boyd's resignation over Morris scandal.

Former New Life Church pastor Brady Boyd, who resigned from leading the megachurch in June 2025, has announced he is helping start a new church in Colorado Springs.

The Village Church plant is a joint endeavor between Boyd and lead pastors Joseph and Lindsay Rangel and will launch August 23 at Mountain Ridge Middle School.

Boyd left New Life Church after it became clear he had misled the congregation regarding his knowledge of former Gateway Pastor Robert Morris’s alleged abuse of Cindy Clemishire.

He served at Gateway Church in the Dallas-Fort Worth area as an associate pastor and elder from 2001 to 2007. He has said that, until 2024, he did not know Clemishire was 12 when Morris’s abuse of her began.

A few weeks later, Boyd announced he would be starting Psalm 68 Ministries, which describes its work as “partner[ing] with trusted ministries to restore hope where it’s needed most, serving widows, orphans, wounded pastors, and forgotten communities.”

Boyd has led Psalm 68 Ministries services on Wednesday evenings at Phil Long Music Hall in Colorado Springs since March 2026. At that time, he said he still believed he was “called to pastor” in Colorado Springs.

He announced his new role with the Rangels on social media, saying he and his wife, Pam, are “looking forward to this next chapter.” He said he would be preaching at their “new church home.”

According to the Village Church website, the Rangels began hosting a weekly gathering in their home that has grown into a “thriving community” that has outgrown the space.

They see the new church plant as filling the “need for a church architecture and shape like ours — especially among families impacted by disability, those who have felt overlooked, and people who have struggled to find where they fit within traditional church spaces.”

The Village Church’s statement of beliefs says: “Scripture is our authority. Jesus is central to everything. Every person is made in the image of God and invited into belonging.”

Sunday worship is described as a time to “worship, pray, open the Scriptures, share communion, and build meaningful community as we practice the way of Jesus together.”
