Orange released an official statement stating that its founder and current chief creative officer Reggie Joiner has resigned along with CEO Kristen Ivy.

“Reggie has admitted to past inappropriate adult relationships, which violated our company policy and eroded trust within our organization,” the statement reads. “During the course of the Board’s investigation, Kristin also disclosed a past inappropriate relationship with Reggie.”

Orange is largely known for hosting one of the world’s most prominent family ministry conferences. That conference is being held this week (April 23-25) in Atlanta, Georgia. On its website, the ministry describes itself as “a team of ministry leaders, educators, researchers, counselors, writers, editors, artists, musicians, and producers all committed to supporting churches and families as they nurture the faith and future of the next generation.”

Joiner, 63, has a wide reach within the evangelical world. He helped Andy Stanley start North Point Community Church while serving as executive director of family ministry, he worked as a youth pastor for Sherwood Baptist Church and has authored over 30 books on parenting and leadership.

In September 2023, Orange announced Ivy as its new president and CEO, describing the move as one that Orange had “thoughtfully planned over the past few years.” Joiner subsequently transitioned to Orange’s chief creative officer. Ivy has written more than 20 books, primarily centered on parenting.

The organization said it does not have a “definitive timeline” for hiring its next CEO but will move forward thoughtfully and diligently. Mike Clear will step in as acting president in the meantime.

Referencing this week’s conference, Orange’s statement said, “You can still expect a community of leaders, speakers, ministry partners, and people who share unshakable hope in the future and mission of the Church.”

“Again, we realize this is a lot to take in, but let us remain steadfast in our commitment to our shared mission,” the statement concludes. “Thank you for everything you do, and for your ongoing support and understanding during this transition period.”

Neither Joiner nor Ivy are part of the Orange Conference this week.
