On This Date: Report Shows Men Outpace Women in Church Attendance

ONE YEAR AGO: On March 26, 2025, MinistryWatch reported that men have outpaced women in church attendance the past three years, reversing a longstanding trend of more women in the pews. That trend narrowed in 2016, however, according to the 2025 Barna State of the Church report. Read more here.
TWO YEARS AGO: On March 26, 2024, MinistryWatch reported that Gethsemani Baptist Church in San Luis, Arizona, was fighting the city for the right to continue operating its food pantry. The church and city reached a settlement that allowed the food pantry operations to continue. Read more here.
THREE YEARS AGO: On March 31, 2023, MinistryWatch reported that Bob Jones University President Steve Pettit, the school’s first president from outside the Jones family, resigned just four months after his contract was renewed for another three years. Dr. Bruce McAllister was named president in May 2025, replacing Josh Crockett, who served just a year. Read more here.

SIX YEARS AGO: On April 16, 2020, MinistryWatch reported that Willow Creek Church named David Dummitt to be its new pastor following several years of tumult that resulted in the departure of founding pastor Bill Hybels and many others in senior leadership.
