ONE YEAR AGO: On March 6, 2024, MinistryWatch reported that the federal Department of Education had imposed its largest-ever fine, $14 million, under the Clery Act against Liberty University as part of a settlement agreement it reached with the school. Read more here.

THREE YEARS AGO: On March 8, 2022, MinistryWatch reported that Bruxy Cavey, a Canadian megachurch pastor, resigned after a sexual misconduct probe. After a two-year delay, one of three sexual assault charges against Cavey has been stayed. The remaining two sexual assault charges, by separate women, issued in December 2023, remained active. Read more here.

FIVE YEARS AGO:  On March 20, 2020, MinistryWatch reported that James MacDonald, though “disqualified” from ministry, had returned to the pulpit. In 2023, MacDonald was charged with two felonies for allegedly assaulting a woman during a parking dispute. Read more here.
