California-based ministry World Impact saw its Ministry Watch transparency rating fall from a C to a D this week. The organization does not provide compensation information for its employees and has not released a form 990 since 2020.

World Impact’s website states their goal is “to reach under-resourced urban pastoral leaders and empower them with affordable, accessible, and effective training.” It offers training in leadership, church planting, trauma healing, and prison ministry.

Currently, the ministry has a 1-star rating for asset utilization, ranking 20th out of 21 in the Leadership Training sector. As of 2020, World Impact has $28.9 million in assets, but only spends $8.6 million on programs. The organization’s net assets equal 237% of its total expenses for its programs—that means they have more than two years worth of program costs wrapped up in net assets. In comparison, other organizations in their sector have 70%. From 2019 to 2020, its reserve accumulation rate jumped from -1% to 9%.
