Redeemer City to City (CTC) began in 2008 as a church planting ministry founded by Tim Keller and Redeemer Presbyterian Church.

It focused on the largest and most recognizable cities around the world, including New York City, Johannesburg, Mumbai, London, São Paulo, but the list quickly grew. By the end of 2023, CTC had founded 1,633 churches and trained 112,988 leaders.

After Tim Keller transitioned out of his position as senior pastor at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, he continued to lead CTC until May of 2023 when he passed away at the age of 72.

At least three seats of the eight-member board continue to be held by elders of Redeemer Presbyterian Church. In addition, CTC also operates under a professional service agreement with Redeemer Presbyterian Church for administrative support for a flat fee.

CTC now works in 75 cities throughout Africa, Asia, Australia, North America, Latin America, the Middle East and Europe. In 2022, the allocated program expense priorities were broken down as follows:

  • 78% spent on CTC’s church planters program. More than half of the money ($5.7 million out of $9.7 million) was in the form of grants to networks and churches in pursuit of starting.
  • 16% spent on Leadership Development, which recruits, assesses, trains and coaches leaders who start new churches and church networks.
  • 3% spent on a seven-episode podcast produced by CTC called “How to Reach the West Again.”
  • 5% spent on the Global Faith and Work Initiative (GFWI) helping pastors and ministry leaders equip their people to do God’s work. They helped 80 pastors in 20 countries.
  • .5% spent on other miscellaneous ministry work.

The aim of Redeemer City to City is to plant churches in the largest cities around the world and train church leaders to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.
