MinistryWatch believes all ministries should file a Form 990, regardless of their classification by the IRS. The Form 990 highlights revenue, expenses, fundraising costs, and executive salaries.
iServants is a nonprofit Christian Mission who says they are reaching Belize for Jesus and have been helping children overcome poverty since 1990. It says it works through a variety of different avenues, including a network of 54 Belizean churches, children’s ministry, Feed-A-Child program, medical mission, Save A Child’s Life program, orphan ministry and Belize mission trips.
The ministry’s Donor Confidence Score is only 33/100—a “Withhold Giving” designation. While it does check boxes for board member accountability, iServants loses the majority of its points for lack of financial transparency.
iServants “brought in less than $800k last year, which was its highest year,” spokesperson David Johnson reported in response to a MinistryWatch inquiry. “This is one of the reasons it didn’t join ECFA.”
Members of the ECFA publicly commit to live up to the “Seven Standards of Responsible Stewardship.”
Johnson also reports “fundraising costs were less than 10% as usual.”
