FCA, Youth For Christ, Mission Training International, and a California Church

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes presented its 20th annual John Lotz “Barnabas” Award to Greg Tonagel, basketball coach for Indiana Wesleyan University. The award was created to honor a basketball coach who exemplifies commitment, integrity, and encouragement. FCA has four stars and an “A” transparency grade in the MinistryWatch database, and a donor confidence score of 95.

Spring Valley Community Church in California has set up a Ukrainian refugee hub to provide a place for refugees to stay for hours—or days—until they are moved to their final settlement locations in the United States. Refugees can eat, shower, do laundry, and rest. So far, Spring Valley Church has sheltered and fed more than 375 refugees with the help of more than 150 volunteers. 

The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team has deployed a team of crisis-trained chaplains to work alongside disaster relief organization Samaritan’s Purse in central New Mexico after a massive wildfire spread through the area. The chaplains will provide emotional and spiritual care to those affected by the fire. The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association has two stars and a “C” transparency grade in the MinistryWatch database, and a donor confidence score of 40. Samaritan’s Purse has two stars and an “A” transparency grade, and a donor confidence score of 80. 

Youth For Christ has raised over $150,000 for Ukrainian relief, 100% of which will be sent to YFC International’s European regional office to support 75 people over three months. Beyond that, YFC will use remaining funds to rebuild youth ministry in Ukraine. YFC has three stars and an “A” transparency grade in the MinistryWatch database, and a donor confidence score of 90. 

Mission Training International has selected Jeremy Lowe as its new president/CEO. Lowe has worked on various consulting projects for state governments and corporations, leading teams to solve IT problems, and he and his family also worked with SEND International in Turkey to plant churches. Mission Training International has three stars and a “C” transparency grade in the MinistryWatch database, and a donor confidence score of 60.
