Honoring veterans, Typhoon Kristine recovery, Christmas devotional for kids, training leaders in the 10/40 window
Advent Christian Village, a Christian retirement and assisted living home in Live Oak, Florida, honored veterans earlier this month by decorating a float for the community’s Veterans Day parade, and by hosting two lunches. More than 200 people attended the larger luncheon, where ACV recognized veterans in the audience, sang patriotic songs and honored veterans from ACV who had passed away this past year. ACV has 2 stars and an “A” transparency grade in the MinistryWatch database, and a donor confidence score of 70.
A team from Home Church of the Nazarene in Sparks, Nevada, traveled to the Bicol Region of the Philippines to help with Typhoon Kristine recovery. They helped with clean-up at local churches, distributed relief goods, led a Vacation Bible School, and encouraged members of the community. Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, which helped lead the team, has 5 stars, an “A” transparency grade, and a donor confidence score of 100—the highest scores in each of MinistryWatch’s three rating categories.
Keys for Kids has published a Christmas devotional to introduce children to the Gospel this holiday season. Churches, schools, and families can order copies to hand out to kids at various events. Reach the Rest helped train 28 new leaders and establish 280 churches among the Fur people along the Sudan border. They also provided schooling, supplies, and food. RTR focuses on the 10/40 window where people are considered unengaged and unreached with the Gospel. In 2023, RTR says 178,000 people around the world made confessions of faith through their work and partnerships, and they helped plant 32,765 churches.
