Ep. 110: “Faith-Based Fraud”

Here at MinistryWatch we bring you news about Christian ministries, as well as the latest in charity and philanthropy, all designed to help us become better stewards of the resources God has entrusted to us.  Every Friday we post our regular roundups of the week’s news.  Those are episodes I co-host with Natasha Smith.  But these MinistryWatch Extra episodes are a chance for us to share with you a little something different, a little something extra.  Sometimes we interview newsmakers.  Other times we “go deep,” you might say, with one of our editorial partners.

Today, though I’m pleased to offer you a portion of the audio version of my new book “Faith-Based Fraud.”  Faith-Based Fraud is, in some ways, an extended mission statement for why MinistryWatch exists.  And I began that book with my own story of why and how I came to be involved in the kind of investigative journalism we do here at MinistryWatch.

Thanks to the generosity of Audible.com, we are able to offer the first 20 minutes of the book to you absolutely free, and – to be perfectly transparent – we hope it will motivate you to go to Audible.com and purchase the audiobook to hear all of the great stories in the book.

I’d like to mention that MinistryWatch is coming up on the end of our fiscal year on June 30.  We here at MinistryWatch depend on your financial support to do what we do.  We don’t take money from the ministries we cover, and we do not accept advertising or sponsorship dollars.  We are 100 percent donor-supported.  In fact, even the royalties from Faith-Based Fraud go not to me, but to MinistryWatch.

If you’d like to help us out financially, just go to the MinistryWatch.com website and hit the DONATE button at the top of the page.  Your contribution before June 30 will help us finish this fiscal year strong.

Also, I want to let you know that even if you don’t want to or can’t make a donation, there’s still something easy and FREE you can do to help.  Just rate us on your podcast app.  The more ratings we get, the better the program performs with search engines.  A rating doesn’t cost you a dime, and it really is a big help.

The producers for today’s program are Rich Roszel and Steve Gandy.   We get database, technical, and editorial support from Cathy Goddard, Stephen DuBarry, Christina Darnell, and Casey Sudduth.  Thanks to the folks at Audible.com and Wild Blue Press for helping us secure permission to air today’s content.

Until next time, may God bless you.
