Letter writer got ‘facts wrong’ in response to Bob Jones University story

Elaine Kelly Raw gets some important facts wrong about me personally in her recent response to Ministry Watch’s coverage.

She doesn’t need to be “told” that I worked at Bob Jones University. I worked at Bob Jones University from 1990-2007. It’s a well-documented fact that has never been hidden.

My book, “Klandamentalism: Bob Jones at the Intersection of Revivalism, Politics, and White Supremacy,” is now released this month through Clemson University Press. It is not a “tell-all.” It is a thoroughly documented, peer-reviewed, original monograph through a university press. The book is a confession of the ideology we BJU alumni have inherited because when we know better, we can do better.

Ms. Raw has few facts in her response, and I hope as neighbors she will inform herself of the reality of BJU’s slow decline and troublesome foundation.

Ministry Watch helps reader make wise donation decisions

I enjoy Ministry Watch. I’m a former newspaper reporter and I really enjoy good journalism. Thank you for what you do.

I have found myself giving (or not) to organizations based on your reporting. I work on staff at a church and my colleague recommended your emails.
