Gabriel Cuevas built his Jacksonville church by hand, erecting Temple of Prayer Assembly of God with his own labor in 1972.

Since his death, the congregation has been led by his son, Rafael Cuevas, who was charged this month with regularly sexually molesting a girl in the church and in his truck from 2017 to 2020. He was charged with two counts of sexual battery and six counts of lewd and lascivious molestation against a victim under 12 years old.

A second alleged victim has also come forward during the investigation into Cuevas.

Temple of Prayer Assembly of God is a small, independent congregation and is not affiliated with the Assemblies of God denomination.
