Our first list in April features the 29 pro-life ministries in the MinistryWatch 1000 database. They range from advocacy groups that lobby for pro-life policies to crisis pregnancy centers that are daily encouraging women to choose life over abortion and are listed in order of total annual revenue.
The total revenue for the pro-life ministries is about $201 million, with the top 10 ministries accounting for more than 70% of that revenue.
The largest group is Pre-Born. Founded in 2006, Pre-Born has been growing rapidly in the last few years. In 2019, Pre-Born’s annual revenue was $6.8 million, and in 2023 it exceeded $34.7 million. Pre-Born has been a MinistryWatch Shining Light award winner for the last two years, meaning the ministry receives the highest rating in each of our three categories—a 100 donor confidence score, a 5-star financial efficiency rating, and an A transparency grade.
Part of its growth strategy has been to partner with well-known talk show hosts Glenn Beck, Ben Shapiro, Mark Levin, and Dan Bongino. While not all the hosts are evangelical Christians, Pre-Born’s Senior Director of Ministry Development Grant Geddie said the ministry has found there is a synergy with the hosts because many of their listeners are pro-life Christians.
Not far behind Pre-Born in total annual revenue is Human Coalition with $29.5 million. Of that income, $16.1 million—more than half—was from government grants. Six of the pro-life groups listed received government grants, but none came near the total received by Human Coalition.
Care Net, a long-time participant in the pro-life arena, is ninth on the list of ministries. It recently announced a merger with ICU Mobile to expand its network of life-affirming care. Until there are a year or two of combined financial statements and Form 990s, MinistryWatch will maintain separate entries in our database for each ministry.
Two state-centered ministries are in the top 10 largest pro-life groups on the list. New Life Family Services, which offers pregnancy support, adoption services, and post-abortion recovery in Minnesota has been steadily growing over the last few years. In 2020, it had total revenue of $2.8 million, and now its revenue exceeds $5 million.
Caring Network, NFP concentrates is pro-life efforts in the “abortion safe haven” of Illinois. The network has been steadily growing with revenue increasing from $1.8 million in 2020 to $4.6 million in 2024. It operates seven clinics, online telecare, and a post-abortion healing ministry.
The pro-life category of ministries is a newer category in the MinistryWatch 1000 database, so we don’t have comparative rankings from previous years.
