Its Transparency Grade, however, remains low. The K-12 school does not post audited financial statements on its website and holds no membership with the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability.
Charlotte Christian School is “a Christ-centered, college preparatory school” that aims to equip students “to effectively integrate Biblical truth and learning into their daily lives and to impact the culture for Christ.”
Founded in 1950 as Calvary Christian Day School, the school originally served lower school students. It has since grown to include high school classes, offering 22 Advanced Placement and college-level classes.
Charlotte Christian views Christian education as a partnership among students, faculty, and parents — one that gives students the opportunity to experience academics and co-curricular activities through a biblical worldview, guided by Christ-honoring faculty.
The school holds dual accreditation from the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). It is also accredited by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and is a member of the Council on Educational Standards and Accountability (CESA), which serves Christian schools in their pursuit of excellence. As part of that membership, CESA conducts an institutional review evaluating leadership, management, academics, and programming.
Charlotte Christian now ranks in the top 60% for financial efficiency within the K-12 Schools/Academies sector, and its scores continue to rise.
With a 3-Star Financial Efficiency Rating, the school performs best in fund acquisition, earning 5 out of 5 stars. Resource allocation and asset utilization each stand at 2 out of 5 Stars. Its spending ratio has dropped from 90% in 2024 to 65% in 2025, and asset retention has improved approximately 39% over the past five years.
