In the fall of 2024, members of Peavine Baptist Church in Rock Springs, Georgia, gave nearly $25,000 in donations toward a “Christmas Project.” By partnering with Undue Medical Debt, the church used that money to settle $5.7 million in medical debt for 4,280 people in northwest Georgia. Recipients were alerted to the erasure of their medical debt and directed to a video explaining why the church did it and followed by a Gospel presentation.
As Los Angeles fires rage in California, Convoy of Hope has sent truckloads of water, food, and hygiene supplies into affected areas. It has set up distribution sites at a Pasadena school and at the Los Angeles Dream Center. Convoy of Hope has an “A” transparency grade in the MinistryWatch database, but a donor confidence score of only 34, because the ministry does not file a Form 990 with the IRS.
House of Mercy Ministries is adapting to the needs of its community in Ukraine. Primarily a rehabilitation for men struggling with addiction, it began sheltering displaced families when the war with Russia started. As the war rages on, House of Mercy continues to host weekly meals for displaced Ukrainians and serves food in three locations through its city. It is also expanding its building and bed capacity. House of Mercy is supported by the Odesa Church of the Nazarene.
