Lynchburg Pastor Arrested for Stalking

A pastor in Lynchburg, Virginia, has been arrested for stalking, according to court documents.

Sergio Guardia was arrested on November 11 after being charged with stalking and two counts of breaking and entering an occupied house to commit a misdemeanor. The warrants state that he placed another person in reasonable fear of death or assault.

Guardia was director of Hispanic Ministries for the Southern Baptist Convention of Virginia. He was also a Spanish campus pastor of Nuevo Amanecer, a Spanish ministry at Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, from 2013 to 2019.

When asked for comment, a representative from the SBC of Virginia told ABC 13 that Guardia is no longer employed with them. “He resigned in November,” the representative said. “We have been made aware that he is dealing with legal matters, and because of the legalities involved we have no further comment. We continue to pray for the Guardia family during this time.”

Guardia is set to appear in court for all three charges on February 7, 2024.
