Largest Christian Advocacy Organizations in the US

Share

Below is a list of the largest Christian advocacy organizations in the United States.

The organizations on this list are those whose work is not primarily direct aid, but in advocacy, including those who work in the arena of public policy — including marriage and religious liberty.

Note that since last year’s list, we have created a new category in the MinistryWatch 1000 database – a pro-life category. Several organizations that we on this last year (Save The Storks and CareNet, for example) are now in the new pro-life category.

The total revenue of the advocacy organizations on our list is more than $980 million. This is a sharp increase from last year’s $800 million.

This year, we have included every organization in our database, and not just the 30 largest organizations.

This list should not be interpreted as a list of recommended ministries. They are ranked by revenue, and not by ministry effectiveness, financial efficiency, or any other measure.  That said, the Financial Efficiency rating, Transparency Grade, and Donor Confidence Score of each ministry is listed.

Access to MinistryWatch content is free.  However, we hope you will support our work with your prayers and financial gifts.  To make a donation, click here.

That said, we would point out that a few organizations have a Donor Confidence Score of 90 or above, and they should get special consideration:

  • First Liberty Institute
  • Family Research Council
  • Kingdom Advisors
  • Atlas Free
  • Rapha International
  • Pacific Justice Institute
  • Christian Alliance for Orphans
  • Life Legal Defense Foundation

To learn more about these ministries, click on the ministry’s name and read the complete MinistryWatch profile on this organization.

We should note that the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ) is not a Christian organization, but it advertises heavily in Christian media and has thousands of evangelical Christian donors, so it is included on this list so as to provide transparency into its operations.  To read more about IFCJ, click here.
