On July 25, Rev. Ronnie Goines, age 51, turned himself in to authorities after the Arlington Police Department (APD) issued two warrants for his arrest.
Investigators filed two criminal charges against Goines — one for indecent assault and another for sexual assault. The details of these alleged assaults have not been made public.
Goines posted bonds of $20,000 for the sexual assault charge and $3,000 for the indecent assault charge. The investigation remains ongoing.
In June, a woman reported an incident to the APD, which sparked the department’s Sex Crimes Unit to conduct an investigation, leading to Goines’ arrest.
According to WFAA News 8, the accuser, who does not permanently reside in North Texas, met Goines and joined his church in 2022. She reportedly exchanged phone numbers with him in January of 2023, at which point they began texting frequently. Last spring, when she visited the Dallas-Fort Worth area for a conference, she contacted him and they agreed to meet.
Court records say that on March 3, following an event, Goines reportedly invited the woman to his apartment, where he made unwanted advances and tried to kiss her. She reported that, despite her objections, he persisted.
The affidavit also notes that the alleged victim told police that they met again the next day as previously planned, attended a local theater, and returned to Goines’ apartment. In the report, she claims he again made unwanted advances. The woman reportedly told officers that she eventually got Goines off of her and then left his residence.
Although Goines denied forcing himself on the woman, a recording provided by the victim captured him apologizing for making her uncomfortable, the arrest warrant says.
Goines has been an influential figure in the Arlington community. He is the founding pastor of Koinonia Christian Church and owns the All Things Life Insurance Agency. Goines also founded the IMPACT Center, a nonprofit that forms partnerships with other organizations to spark change.
Goines had previously been involved with the City of Arlington’s Unity Council and was a former participant in the APD’s Arlington Clergy and Police Partnership (ACAPP) program.
MinistryWatch reached out to Goines and Koinonia for comment but has not yet received a response.
