Helping the Typhoon Victims in the Philippines

Please Consider Helping MinistryWatch.com
As the year draws to a close, would you prayerfully consider supporting the work of MinistryWatch.com? Over our 15 years of existence, we have been able to mostly fund our operating expenses without asking for outside help. Indeed, we prefer the thousands of users of our website give to the many deserving ministries found on MinistryWatch.com than to us. Our current circumstances, however, are such that we will need some outside funding in 2014 and we are hoping to raise at least $100,000. If you feel led to help with this need, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

"He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death." Psalm 72:13
The video and pictures coming from the Philippines following the nation being hit by what some say is the strongest typhoon or hurricane to ever make landfall (reported wind gusts were as high as 235 miles per hour) reveal considerable devastation in a country ill-equipped to handle it. Many donors will be looking for charities to give money to in order to help those who are in such great need of immediate assistance. Many charities will swing into action right away, some of which are Christian ministries that will bring the gospel message with them as well. Many ministries will be raising money to help those in need but, given the scale of the disaster, larger relief and development ministries like World Vision and Operation Blessing will likely be the most effective in the early phases of the relief effort. Denominational relief ministries are also a good option in circumstances like this. Another ministry worth looking at is Medical Teams International. You may want to peruse all the ministries involved in relief and development work by going to http://www.ministrywatch.com/ministries/sectorreport.aspx and choosing "relief and development" from the top left drop down box. From there you can quickly locate our ratings, which ministries have been subject to a MinistryWatch.com Donor Alert and which have been honored in past years as Shining Light ministries. To obtain more information on any ministry, simply click on the ministry's name and our full report on that ministry will be pulled up. We hope this proves to be a helpful tool as you decide how to best aid those in dire need in the Philippines at this time.
